Gather your hair into your desired updo – a twist, chignon, bun, knot or half-updo. Position the hairpin at a 45-degree angle on the outside of the bun. Pierce the bun briefly with the pin, then guide it right up to the scalp, catching a few strands of hair from the scalp as you go. Rotate the pin through 180 degrees (or 45 degrees) so that the tips of the hairpin are now pointing in the opposite direction, and push it deep into the bun.
